President Tinubu Orders Review of APC 2027 Campaign Council

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ordered a reconstitution of the APC 2027 Presidential Campaign Council to remove corruption-linked members and include omitted stakeholders.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ordered a review and fresh compilation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 Presidential Campaign Council list after the initial composition faced widespread criticism. The Presidency initiated the changes to address anomalies, specifically the inclusion of individuals facing corruption charges, including Betta Edu and Ngozi Olejeme.

The revised list aims to incorporate key stakeholders and experienced strategists who were previously omitted, such as Festus Keyamo and Simon Lalong. While the membership will be adjusted to ensure institutional inclusiveness and regional balance, the council's leadership—Director-General Senator Abdulaziz Yari and Secretary Governor Hope Uzodimma—is expected to remain in place.

Reactions to the move have been divided. An APC solidarity group praised the president for responding to criticism, while Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso questioned the ethics of the council's makeup. Former senator Dino Melaye threatened legal action, citing a conflict of interest regarding the role of Nigeria Revenue Service Chairman Zacheus Adedeji in the campaign's fundraising structure.
