Congress Party Displays Batman Posters of Rahul Gandhi
The Delhi Pradesh Youth Congress placed posters in New Delhi comparing Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi to Batman to attract Gen Z voters.
The Delhi Pradesh Youth Congress launched a campaign in central New Delhi featuring posters that compare Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, to the superhero Batman. Organized by Youth Congress chief Akshay Lakra, the posters were placed near the Indian National Congress headquarters, the Indian Youth Congress office, and the 24 Akbar Road office. The imagery depicts Gandhi as a "watchful protector" and "the silent guardian."
The campaign stems from a viral Instagram "Ask Me Anything" session in which Gandhi responded to a question about his identity as Batman by saying, "Let's just say that no one has ever seen me and Batman in the same room together."
Pawan Khera, head of the Congress media and publicity department, promoted the initiative on X, stating that "not all heroes wear capes - some wear a white T-shirt," a reference to Gandhi's signature attire. While the party intended the move as a strategy for Gen Z outreach, the campaign drew criticism and trolling on social media, with some users describing the effort as a "cheap stunt."
