US Park Police Lease AI Cameras for DC Sites

The US Park Police spent $343,000 to lease AI-powered surveillance cameras from LiveView Technologies for several high-profile locations in Washington, DC.

The United States Park Police spent $343,000 to lease mobile surveillance cameras from LiveView Technologies, a Utah-based company. The United States Department of the Interior awarded the contract on September 14, with the lease running through February. The deployment follows claims by Donald Trump that vandals damaged the reflecting pool in Washington, DC, though those charges were dismissed.

Trump announced on Truth Social that security cameras had been installed at the pool and warned that vandals would "GO TO JAIL". While contract records do not specify the exact number of units, reports indicate installations at Memorial Circle and near the Arlington Memorial Bridge.

The leased camera trailers utilize artificial intelligence to read license plates and flag loitering. LiveView Technologies, which also provides equipment to United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement, stated that the systems do not use facial recognition.
