Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Iranian security official Mohsen Rezaei on Thursday to discuss international developments and the current situation in the Middle East. During the meeting, Rezaei delivered a formal message to Putin from Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei.
Despite the high-level diplomatic coordination, the Russian Foreign Ministry issued a warning to its citizens to avoid traveling to Iran, citing the risk of resumed fighting in the region. In a separate diplomatic friction, Turkey and Iran are currently investigating a deadly shooting on their shared border that killed a Turkish soldier.
Addressing separate economic reports, Russian special envoy Kirill Dmitriev dismissed claims that Russian tankers bound for the United States had diverted their course. He labeled the reports as "fake news" and asserted that diesel shipments would reach their buyers without disruption.
