Flávio Bolsonaro Disappears After Losing Brazilian Presidential Election

Senator Flávio Bolsonaro has vanished after losing the presidential election to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and failing to surrender his passport to federal police.

Senator Flávio Bolsonaro disappeared following his defeat in Sunday's presidential election to incumbent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Brazilian authorities cancelled the senator's passports on Tuesday after he missed a deadline to surrender them to federal police as part of a money-laundering investigation involving betting companies.

Reports from Argentinian media indicate Bolsonaro may have crossed the border on foot into Puerto Iguazú to board a private jet bound for the United States. However, the Argentine government and immigration authorities report no record of his entry. While Bolsonaro initially sought to annul the election results, his party has since acknowledged the victory of Lula.

The senator's disappearance follows a pattern of legal turmoil within his family. His father, Jair Bolsonaro, is currently under house arrest for coup plotting, and his brother, Eduardo Bolsonaro, resides in self-imposed exile in the United States while facing an arrest warrant.
