Trump Administration Promotes Energy Dominance at World Economic Forum

President Donald Trump and the Department of the Interior are promoting a policy of energy dominance to drive economic growth and bolster national security one year into his second term. During an address at the World Economic Forum, Trump challenged global leaders on trade, energy, and America First priorities.

Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum stated that establishing energy dominance increases United States leverage over adversaries such as Russia and Iran while simultaneously lowering domestic costs. To support this agenda, the Department of the Interior has focused on streamlining permitting processes on federal lands. This effort included the rapid approval of an Arizona mine that had been pending for 29 years.

Future priorities for the administration include developing the Alaskan LNG pipeline and exploring energy opportunities in Greenland. Burgum characterized these actions as part of a broader effort to cut red tape and enhance the nation's strategic influence by selling energy to allies rather than allowing them to rely on adversaries.
