Democratic Candidates Urge Iowa Voter Turnout Before Election
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Rob Sand and running mate Dave Muhlbauer are campaigning for higher voter turnout to end a decade of Republican control in Iowa.
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Rob Sand and his running mate, Dave Muhlbauer, are urging supporters to increase voter turnout five days before Election Day in Iowa. During a rally in Clive, Sand argued that the state requires a new direction after 10 years of Republican control, specifically citing a water quality crisis. The Democratic campaign is utilizing the slogan rotate the crops to signal its goal of ending Republican control of the governor's office and the state Legislature.
Muhlbauer supported this push by claiming that many voters feel left behind by powerful insiders and special interests. These efforts follow a rally held the previous day in Clive by Republican candidate Zach Lahn, who appeared alongside Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to similarly encourage voter turnout.
Early voting in Iowa has increased by approximately 30% compared to the 2022 midterm elections. Despite this surge, Republicans maintain a registration advantage of about 180,000 voters over Democrats.
