US Blockade Secures 1 Billion Barrels of Oil in Hormuz

The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that U.S. forces have supported the transit of over 1 billion barrels of crude oil through the Strait of Hormuz over the last two months. Admiral Brad Cooper stated that the military provided coordinated protection for more than 2,000 commercial ship transits and cleared primary lanes of mines. Cooper asserted that an "ironclad blockade" has prevented Iran from exporting zero barrels of oil, while traffic for other Gulf partners has reached its highest level since the conflict began on February 28.

Iran's armed forces spokesman, Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi, rejected these figures as a "failed psychological operation" designed to justify U.S. financial costs and casualties. The dispute follows a June 17 Pakistan-brokered agreement that assigned Iran responsibility for the strait, which Tehran subsequently closed citing U.S. violations. The blockade has severely crippled the Iranian economy, contributing to 90% inflation and forcing trade onto land routes through Turkey and Pakistan, where logistical gridlock has left thousands of trucks stranded.

Parallel to these maritime operations, President Donald Trump claimed the U.S. "obliterated Iran's nuclear enrichment capacity" through Operations Midnight Hammer and Epic Fury. While Trump considers whether to restart large-scale attacks to "annihilate" the regime, diplomatic efforts continue. Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi have agreed to meet in New York to discuss regional stability.
