NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated on Wednesday in Tallinn that the alliance sees no imminent threat of a Russian attack on NATO territory. During a joint press conference with Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal, Rutte clarified that the alliance would respond if it detected a Russian military buildup indicating preparations for an attack.
While dismissing immediate threats to the alliance, Rutte urged member states to increase military assistance to Ukraine. He specifically emphasized the need for expanded air defense support as winter approaches. Prime Minister Michal affirmed that Estonia views continued support for Ukraine as a critical component of its own national security.
As part of his visit to Estonia, Rutte met with senior officials and visited the Amari Air Base. His itinerary also includes a scheduled speech at Tallinn University of Technology.
