Narendra Modi Opens RBI Cybersecurity Institute in Bhubaneswar
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a new Reserve Bank of India data center and cybersecurity training institute to strengthen India's technological infrastructure.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Reserve Bank of India's new Data Centre and Cybersecurity Training Institute in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, on October 25, 2026. Modi described the facility as a critical step in strengthening the nation's institutional and technological capabilities.
During the event, Modi advocated for balanced development, arguing that governance must extend infrastructure and services to remote villages and smaller towns instead of concentrating them in major cities. He stated that the current approach to governance in India is transforming rapidly.
Modi contrasted modern digital financial inclusion, such as the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, with previous governance eras. He criticized a former phone banking system associated with the Indian National Congress, alleging that influential individuals used personal connections to secure massive loans while ordinary citizens faced difficulties opening accounts. He asserted that the shift to a digital ecosystem has expanded banking access to rural women, artisans, and street vendors while reducing leakages in direct benefit transfers.
