IonQ reported second-quarter revenue of $80 million, a 287% increase year-over-year. The quantum computing company is expanding its vertically integrated stack through the acquisition of foundry specialist SkyWater Technology to add manufacturing and packaging expertise. Following this move, IonQ expects annual revenue to reach between $450 million and $460 million. However, the company reported a second-quarter operating loss of $337 million and an adjusted EBITDA of negative $120 million, funding its growth and acquisitions via stock issuance.
In the broader hardware sector, Nvidia reported second-quarter revenue of $96.2 billion, representing a 106% year-over-year increase. This growth was driven primarily by the company's data center segment. Nvidia maintained a 75% gross margin and $64 billion in operating income for the period.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is currently transitioning the company from a GPU designer into a comprehensive architect for AI factories. This strategy involves the integration of CPUs, networking, and software into a unified infrastructure map.
