The Parliament of India is hosting the 12th BRICS Parliamentary Forum on October 26 and 27, 2026, at the Samvidhan Sadan in New Delhi. Presided over by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, the conference gathers presiding officers and delegations from 11 BRICS member nations and 10 partner countries. The forum operates under the theme "Strengthening parliaments that place people, society, and their real needs at the centre of development," with sessions focusing on parliamentary resilience, human-centric artificial intelligence, and sustainable development.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is attending as a special guest to address the gathering and meet with visiting delegation leaders. The event includes high-level plenary sessions and a special meeting for Chairpersons of International Affairs Committees. The forum will conclude on October 27 with a banquet hosted by the Vice-President of India.

Ahead of the official inauguration, Om Birla conducted bilateral meetings with delegations from Cuba, Egypt, Belarus, and Russia. During discussions with Russian State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin, the two leaders focused on expanding exchanges for women and young parliamentarians and cooperating on trade, industry, and nuclear energy. Birla expressed appreciation for Russia's support of India's permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council, while both parties reaffirmed a unified stance against global terrorism.
