Gulf States Report Coordinated Drone Attacks Amid Iran Tensions

A series of coordinated drone and projectile attacks targeted the territorial lands and waters of Kuwait, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates on May 10, 2026. Kuwait intercepted several hostile drones that infiltrated its airspace at dawn, marking the first such breach since an April 8 ceasefire. Simultaneously, a commercial cargo vessel traveling from Abu Dhabi was struck by a projectile northeast of Mesaieed Port in Qatari waters, causing a limited fire. The UAE also reported intercepting two drones launched from Iran.

International reactions were swift, with Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Canada, and Yemen condemning the strikes as violations of international law and threats to global trade. On May 11, Iranian air defense forces reported shooting down a reconnaissance drone in its southwestern region, further compounding the volatility in the Strait of Hormuz.
