JD Vance Campaigns in Ohio and New York Before Midterms
Vice President JD Vance held rallies in Ohio and New York to support Republican candidates ahead of Tuesday's midterm elections.
Vice President JD Vance conducted a series of campaign rallies in Rome, New York, and Swanton, Ohio, on November 2, 2026, to support Republican congressional candidates. In Swanton, Vance appeared alongside Republican Senator Jon Husted and gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy. Ramaswamy continued his final day of campaigning with a subsequent stop in West Chester, near Cincinnati.
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton and Senate candidate Sherrod Brown responded by holding a joint rally in Columbus to mobilize voters for the close races. These events mark the final push before the midterm elections on Tuesday.
Vance has held 19 rallies since the GOP midterm convention in September, visiting nearly 50 battleground districts. While Vance maintains his focus is on his current portfolio, including an anti-fraud task force and Middle East peace negotiations, GOP strategists suggest his role as finance chair of the Republican National Committee and his extensive campaigning position him for a 2028 presidential run. President Donald Trump declined to speculate on the 2028 cycle, stating the party must first get through the midterms.
