Israeli Forces and Colonists Attack West Bank Olive Harvest
Israeli security forces and colonists blocked Palestinian farmers from harvesting olives and attacked residents across the West Bank, resulting in multiple injuries and crop destruction.
Israeli colonists and Israeli Security Forces launched a series of attacks against Palestinian farmers and residents across the West Bank between October 2 and October 4, 2026, coinciding with the start of the annual olive harvest. In the Salfit governorate, forces blocked farmers from reaching their lands in Deir Istiya, Farkha, and Haris, where three farmers were detained.
Violence escalated in the Nablus region, where colonists attacked harvesters in Beita and assaulted a farmer in Aqraba, stealing his equipment and crops. In Beita, soldiers reportedly cleared olive groves of farmers and solidarity activists to allow settlers to seize the land. Other attacks included the burning of 55 olive trees in Abu Dis and assaults on homes in Al-Mughayyir and Rantis, where a woman was run over. These incidents resulted in at least 16 injuries.
The Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission reported that Israeli forces and colonists carried out 2,051 attacks against Palestinians and their property last month, with 1,404 attributed to security forces. The commission also noted that over 45,000 trees were destroyed in the first half of 2026. While Palestinian officials describe these actions as systemic efforts to displace residents for settlement expansion, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu attributed the violence to "juvenile delinquents."
