Israeli Strikes Kill Eight Palestinians Near Ceasefire Anniversary
Israeli military strikes killed at least eight Palestinians in Gaza as a US-brokered ceasefire approaches its first anniversary amid stalled disarmament negotiations.
Israeli military strikes and gunfire killed at least eight Palestinians across the Gaza Strip on October 8 and 9, 2026. The Israel Defense Forces reported that three of the deceased were members of armed groups. These deaths occur as a US-brokered ceasefire, which took effect on October 10, 2025, nears its first anniversary. According to the Gaza Strip Health Ministry, over 1,450 Palestinians have been killed since the truce began.
Negotiations to advance the ceasefire have stalled over conflicting security demands. Benjamin Netanyahu requires Hamas to disarm before Israel conducts further troop withdrawals. Conversely, Hamas refuses to surrender its weapons until Israeli forces leave the territory completely.
Separately, Netanyahu's office has dismissed allegations that United Arab Emirates President Mohamed bin Zayed warned him of the October 7, 2023, attacks ten days in advance. The Prime Minister's office characterized the claim as an "absolute lie."
