Former Obidient Leaders Pledge 12 Million Votes to Tinubu

Isaac Balami, the former deputy campaign manager for the Obi/Datti Presidential Campaign, led a delegation of professionals and leaders from the Obidient Movement to a meeting with Seyi Tinubu in Abuja on August 1, 2026. During the meeting, the group formally declared their support for the 2027 re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and pledged to mobilize 12 million votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Balami and the defecting leaders attributed their departure from the Labour Party to systemic injustices and a lack of leadership within the Obidient Movement. They expressed a desire to align with a structure where their political interests would be recognized and protected.

Seyi Tinubu welcomed the delegation into the APC and the Renewed Hope Movement. He praised the group for recognizing the achievements of the current administration, specifically citing the fuel subsidy removal and the establishment of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund. He emphasized that the movement is inclusive and intended to build a better country for future generations.
