Zelensky Accuses Russia of Targeting Kyiv Civilians With Cluster Warheads
President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia of using ballistic missiles with cluster warheads to deliberately target residential areas in Kyiv during overnight strikes.
President Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russia of deliberately targeting civilians in Kyiv with ballistic missiles carrying cluster warheads during overnight strikes on Thursday. Zelensky reported that Russian forces launched three missiles designed to detonate in midair and scatter explosives across a 400-meter diameter.
One missile struck the historic Pechersk district, damaging residential properties, shops, cafes, and monastery buildings near the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. Zelensky asserted that no military facilities were located in the targeted area and claimed Moscow chose these specific weapons to maximize civilian casualties.
Zelensky further warned that Russia is exploiting delays in the delivery of Western air defense systems to carry out such attacks.
