Trump Holds Midterm Rallies Amid Taxpayer Ad Controversy
President Donald Trump is campaigning in swing states while facing backlash over the use of government funds for promotional television advertisements.
President Donald Trump is conducting a series of campaign rallies in states with competitive House and Senate races, including Alaska, Arizona, Montana, Georgia, Kentucky, and Kansas, to support candidates ahead of the midterm elections.
The campaign has been marked by a controversy involving pro-Trump television advertisements. While the White House described the ads as public service announcements promoting patriotism, they faced backlash for being funded by U.S. government tax dollars. Although Trump announced on October 5 that the MAGA Inc. super PAC would assume payment for the ads, the federal government spent an additional $10 million on the campaign over the following week.
A temporary court order eventually forced the removal of the government-funded ads. Three of the advertisements have since returned to the air, now funded by MAGA Inc., though the current scale of the buy is smaller than the previous government-funded effort.
