RFK Jr. Accuses CNN of Dishonesty Over Cooking Show Costs
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. clashed with CNN after the network disputed the affordability of recipes on his cooking show.
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. accused CNN anchor Erin Burnett of suffering from "Trump Derangement Syndrome" after the network challenged the pricing of his cooking series, "The Real Food Show." The program promotes healthy meals costing under $5 per serving to help Americans reclaim their kitchens.
In a segment on "Erin Burnett OutFront," CNN correspondent Tom Foreman argued that the show's cost estimates were misleading. Foreman reported that while Kennedy claimed a salmon-based meal for a family of four cost under $20, the actual grocery store cost to acquire the necessary whole ingredients was $70.54. Foreman asserted that grocery stores do not sell ingredients in the fractional amounts used by the show's calculations.
Kennedy responded on X, defending his use of "standard recipe costing," which counts only the portions of ingredients used in a specific recipe. He argued that unused items remain in the pantry for future meals and accused the network of ignoring basic arithmetic by requiring the full package price of every ingredient regardless of the amount used.
