Palmer Luckey Advocates for Public and Brutal Executions

Anduril cofounder Palmer Luckey called for the return of public executions, arguing that the current private, medicalized system is dystopian.

Palmer Luckey, cofounder of Anduril, advocated for the return of public and brutal executions in a social media post on X. Luckey argued that the current shift toward private, medicalized executions is "awful and dystopian," asserting that executions should be public to serve as the ultimate example of the state's monopoly on violence.

Luckey stated that public displays of capital punishment allow voters to maintain appropriate confidence or revulsion in the institution. His comments follow statements from Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who said the execution of Nidal Hasan—convicted of killing 13 people at Fort Hood in 2009—would be livestreamed. President Donald Trump is currently weighing the decision regarding Hasan's execution.

While Luckey's position drew criticism from some users, Palantir cofounder Joe Lonsdale expressed agreement, claiming that modern society has become too soft in ways that cause harm to citizens.
