President Tinubu Commissions Body of Benchers Office Annex in Abuja

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu commissioned a new office annex for the Body of Benchers in Abuja and approved hostels for the Nigerian Law School.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu commissioned a new office annex for the Body of Benchers in Abuja's Institution and Research District on July 6, 2026. The event marked the third anniversary of his administration. Represented by Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, the president stated that providing infrastructure for the legal community is a constitutional and collaborative duty rather than an interference with judicial independence.

Alongside the annex, the administration announced the commencement of two 300-capacity hostels for the Nigerian Law School in Bwari and the completion of access roads linking the Body of Benchers secretariat to Nile University. Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike attributed the completion of the annex to the president's prompt release of funds through a supplementary budget following a proposal by former Body of Benchers chairman Chief Adegboyega Solomon Awomolo.

Olorogun Albert Akpomudje, the current chairman of the Body of Benchers, stated that the new facility would resolve long-standing accommodation challenges and urged members to utilize the space for legal reforms and mentorship.
