Azerbaijan Foreign Minister Holds High-Level UN General Assembly Meetings

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov conducted a series of diplomatic meetings on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The discussions focused on expanding bilateral ties and addressing global security challenges across different geopolitical fronts.

In meetings with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, Bayramov emphasized the necessity of upholding international law and the role of constructive dialogue in resolving conflicts. The talks with Iran specifically highlighted a previous August 2026 presidential meeting in Bishkek as a foundation for expanding cooperation and promoting good neighborly relations.

Bayramov also met with Djibouti's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdoulkader Houssein Omar. The two officials discussed expanding cooperation in trade, education, and humanitarian affairs. They coordinated mutual support within the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement, and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), noting Azerbaijan's preparations to host the 2027 OIC Summit and its upcoming chairmanship of the organization.

Across all engagements, the Azerbaijani minister stressed the importance of diplomacy and high-level political dialogue to reduce tensions and seek peaceful resolutions to security issues in the broader Middle East and other international regions.
