Trump Announces Iran Negotiation Request Amid Sea of Oman Conflict
Donald Trump reports Iran requested a halt to U.S. attacks while Iranian forces fire on ships to assert control over the Sea of Oman.
President Donald Trump announced that Iran has requested a halt to U.S. attacks and that negotiations between the two nations are ongoing. While Trump stated he would not use nuclear weapons, he warned that military action may be necessary at Pickaxe Mountain.
Iranian officials expressed skepticism regarding the diplomatic process. Iranian Ambassador Kazem Jalali stated that the United States is not demonstrating serious political will to negotiate.
Simultaneously, Iran escalated military activity in the Sea of Oman. Iranian Army Commander Major General Amir Hatami reported that Iranian forces fired upon three ships that entered the waterway, severely restricting maritime traffic. IRGC Brigadier General Akraminia announced new operational plans to push back American ships, asserting that Iran has complete operational control over the Sea of Oman.
