Advocate Urges Senators to Confront Xi Jinping Over Persecution

Annie Li, an Albany resident and advocate, is urging U.S. Senators Kirsten Gillibrand and Chuck Schumer to pressure Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping to end the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. The request comes ahead of Xi Jinping's scheduled visit to the United States on September 24.

Li is calling for the senators to co-sponsor bill S.4009, known as the Falun Gong and Victims of Forced Organ Harvesting Protection Act. She describes the situation as a "cold genocide," citing the personal history of her own family members who were arrested or disappeared.

The advocacy effort follows reports of a September 2025 conversation between Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin concerning organ transplants and immortality.
