Supreme Court Allows Trump to Resume White House Ballroom Construction

The project, which is reportedly 65% complete and expected to finish by summer 2028, involves the demolition of the East Wing. The administration claims the $400 million project is privately funded and essential for national security, specifically for Secret Service operations and the protection of the integrated military facility.

Chief Justice John Roberts and three liberal justices dissented, arguing the construction is likely unlawful because Congress has not provided the express authority required to build structures on federal park grounds in the District of Columbia. While the ruling allows work to proceed, the court did not definitively rule on the project's legality, leaving the matter subject to further litigation.
