Rahul Gandhi Demands Education Minister Resign Over Terrorist Remarks

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge demanded the immediate resignation and apology of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on June 25, 2026. The demands followed an NDTV interview in which Pradhan characterized students protesting at Jantar Mantar as the B-team of terrorists and disruptive elements.

The protests were sparked by repeated examination paper leaks, including the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination. Gandhi accused the government of labeling students demanding fair examinations as terrorists and described the current education system as an extortion racket. The Cockroach Janata Party founder Abhijeet Dipke, who led the sit-in protests, rejected the labels, while Kerala Higher Education Minister Roji M. John accused the National Testing Agency of corruption.

In response to the conflict, the Congress party announced Chhatron Ki Goonj, a 40-day nationwide campaign led by the National Students’ Union of India starting June 30. The mobilization aims to protest the collapse of the education system and will conclude with a Delhi Chalo march on August 9 if the government does not meet their demands.
