ICE Sets Monthly Record With 50,925 August Arrests

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested 50,925 illegal immigrants in August, establishing a new all-time monthly record. This figure exceeds the previous record of 50,208 arrests set in July.

Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin described the milestone as "promises made and promises kept in action," stating that the current pace of enforcement significantly exceeds rates seen under the Biden administration. The Trump administration achieved these numbers by deploying more personnel into communities and expanding cooperation with hundreds of police and sheriff's agencies.

While the White House maintains a goal of one million arrests per year, data indicates a broad range of detainees. July figures showed that fewer than 50% of those arrested had pending charges or criminal convictions. Despite this, the Department of Homeland Security highlighted high-profile August arrests, including an Indian citizen with child pornography convictions in the District of Columbia and a Kenyan man with a murder conviction in California.
