Apple Ships AI Servers From New Houston Facility

Apple Inc. has started shipping custom silicon artificial intelligence servers from a new 250,000-square-foot manufacturing facility located at 8702 Fairbanks Road in Houston, Texas. The plant became operational ahead of its original 2026 schedule, with plans to continue expanding the site to increase production next year.

These servers power Apple Intelligence via Private Cloud Compute, providing a privacy-focused cloud backend for iPhones, iPads, and Macs. The hardware utilizes custom Apple silicon and a specialized software stack designed to prevent the storage or logging of user data. The servers will be installed in data centers across the United States.

The initiative is part of a $600 billion U.S. investment commitment called the American Manufacturing Program. This shift follows pressure from President Donald Trump to increase domestic jobs and manufacturing. While the company is onshoring server production and iPhone glass manufacturing in Kentucky, CEO Tim Cook indicated that iPhone assembly will likely remain overseas for now, even as Apple increases the domestic sourcing of key chips and components.
