Zelenskyy Secures Monthly US Patriot Missile Deliveries

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on August 8 that Ukraine reached an agreement with the United States for monthly deliveries of Patriot air-defense interceptor missiles. Speaking at a press conference in Belgrade, Zelenskyy stated that while agreements for monthly supplies exist, the current volumes are not enough. He noted that delivery levels for 2026 have decreased significantly compared to 2025.

Zelenskyy identified Germany and Poland as partners capable of providing serious assistance, while acknowledging smaller contributions from the Nordic countries and the Netherlands. He also expressed interest in acquiring air defense systems from Israel and potential support from Japan and South Korea.

This push for increased external aid follows a policy shift by the United States. U.S. Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker blocked Ukraine from domestically producing Patriot interceptors, a move that reverses previous commitments made by the Trump administration.
