Donald Trump Leads Campaign Blitz Amid Democratic Referendum Strategy
President Donald Trump is conducting a multi-state rally tour to save GOP House and Senate seats as Democrats spend millions to make the midterms a referendum on him.
President Donald Trump is conducting a 32-day campaign blitz across key states, including Kentucky, Kansas, and North Carolina, to support Republican candidates ahead of the November 3 midterm elections. While Trump has urged voters to treat the midterms as a personal vote for him, he recently shifted his messaging to remind voters that he remains the U.S. commander-in-chief regardless of whether Republicans retain control of Congress.
Democratic candidates and aligned groups have leaned into the president's presence, spending over $163 million on television ads since September 1 to turn the election into a referendum on Trump. These ads link Republican opponents to the president's handling of inflation and the war in Iran. In contrast, Republicans have spent approximately $11 million on Trump-themed ads, focusing instead on taxes and crime. The Republican National Committee has dismissed the Democratic strategy as a sign that the opposition lacks a substantive policy platform.
Despite Trump's claims of surging GOP enthusiasm, internal concerns have grown as forecasts suggest a high probability of a Democratic sweep. Republican leaders have begun redirecting funds to salvage competitive seats in Texas, Kansas, and South Carolina. If Democrats secure the House and Senate, they may launch investigations into the Trump family business and the war in Iran, potentially issuing subpoenas for Attorney General Todd Blanche and Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
