BJP Celebrates Lal Krishna Advani's 99th Birthday
The Bharatiya Janata Party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi honored veteran leader Lal Krishna Advani as he turned 99 and entered his 100th year.
The Bharatiya Janata Party organized a celebratory program at its central office in New Delhi on November 8, 2026, to mark the 99th birthday of veteran leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani. The event, which coincided with Diwali, featured a puja and havan led by BJP National President Nitin Nabin, a documentary screening of Advani's life, and addresses from senior leaders and Advani's daughter, Pratibha Advani.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi published a detailed tribute in national dailies, tracing Advani's trajectory from an RSS pracharak in Rajasthan to his role as the longest-serving BJP President. Modi highlighted Advani's leadership during the Emergency and the Somnath to Ayodhya Rath Yatra, noting that his partnership with Atal Bihari Vajpayee helped establish the BJP as a major political force. While some reports initially referred to the event as a centenary, Union Home Minister Amit Shah clarified that Advani has completed 99 years and is entering his 100th year.
Other political figures, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and Congress MP Rajeev Shukla, extended greetings to the Bharat Ratna recipient. Tributes emphasized Advani's commitment to the principle of Nation First and his influence on the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi movement. The celebrations occurred amid recent health challenges for the veteran leader, who received treatment for a chest infection in October 2026.
