House Republicans Request Briefing With Nvidia CEO Over China Ties
Three House Republican committee leaders requested a closed-door briefing with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang regarding his interactions with a suspected Chinese intelligence asset.
Three House Republican committee leaders have requested a closed-door briefing with Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang on November 18 to investigate his relationship with Alice Huang, an executive at Megaspeed. The request follows reports that U.S. intelligence identified Alice Huang as a Chinese intelligence asset used to funnel information to Beijing.
Lawmakers are seeking details on the interactions between the two executives and the security protocols Nvidia employs to prevent foreign espionage. The committee leaders stated that determining the extent to which national security has been placed at risk is vital, noting that Chinese access to sensitive U.S. technology is a core focus of their investigative work this Congress.
Nvidia defended the meetings as standard business interactions with a customer. The company stated that these discussions did not involve sensitive trade secrets or information relevant to national security. Separately, reports indicate that President Donald Trump was briefed on the intelligence regarding Alice Huang approximately one year ago but chose not to act on the information.
