House Democrats Plan Investigations into Donald Trump's Business Ties

The Democratic Party is developing a strategy to investigate financial firms and contractors tied to Donald Trump if they regain the House majority in November.

The Democratic Party is developing an investigative strategy to target companies, contractors, and financial firms linked to President Donald Trump's business and political orbit, contingent on regaining the House majority in the November midterm elections. Rather than pursuing immediate impeachment, the party intends to utilize subpoenas, hearings, and document requests to determine if Trump leveraged his office to benefit himself, his allies, or donors.

This approach seeks to avoid the pitfalls of Trump's first term, where impeachment proceedings were viewed as overly consuming and allowing the president to claim partisan victimization. To signal future interests, Democrats have already sent letters to entities including Alphabet, Paramount Skydance, GEO Group, and 1789 Capital. Other potential targets for investigation include Apple, Palantir, Tesla, BlackRock, and Blackstone.

Representative Robert Garcia, the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, indicated a focus on corruption involving Pentagon contracts and crypto assets. The White House stated it is prepared to respond to oversight requests and maintains that Trump has worked to thwart the "radical left's agenda."
