Donald Trump Offers US Aid After Russian Lab Death
Donald Trump offered US assistance to Russia following the death of a laboratory worker and subsequent quarantines at a Siberian anti-plague institute.
President Donald Trump announced on Monday that the United States is willing to provide assistance to Russia following the death of Darya Shipilova, a worker at the Research Anti-Plague Institute of Siberia. The death sparked international concern over a potential pneumonic plague outbreak, prompting Russian authorities to quarantine dozens of institute employees and five local hospitals.
Russian health authorities reported that Shipilova died from pneumonia of unknown etiology and stated that tests showed no pathogens linked to her professional work. Despite these claims, the White House, the Department of Health and Human Services, and the State Department remain on alert.
Trump characterized the situation as a big problem for Russia and expressed a willingness to help, though he noted he has not yet spoken with President Vladimir Putin regarding the incident.
