Iran Reconstitutes Missile Program After US and Israeli Strikes

The government of Iran has reconstituted parts of its ballistic missile and drone programs, reopening tunnel entrances and restoring access roads to underground bases previously targeted in March and April. This recovery follows weeks of air strikes conducted by the United States and Israel against Iranian military infrastructure.

Iran demonstrated its remaining capabilities through a recent strike on the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan, which killed three US servicemembers. Officials believe the attack likely utilized the advanced Kheibar Shekan medium-range ballistic missile. In response, United States Central Command confirmed that American forces have conducted strikes on Iranian military targets for 11 consecutive nights.

US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth previously characterized the Iranian missile program as functionally destroyed. However, during a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing, he acknowledged that the US never expected Iran to completely lose its strike capabilities, noting that the primary concern is the scale of those capabilities against the United States.
