President Donald Trump issued a series of clemencies in January 2026, consisting of 13 pardons and eight commutations. The grants targeted a wide array of recipients, including political allies, donors, and high-profile fraudsters. Notable pardons include former Puerto Rico Governor Wanda Vázquez, who pleaded guilty to campaign finance violations, and Terren Peizer, the former CEO of Ontrak convicted of insider trading. Other recipients included former FBI agent Mark Rossini and Venezuelan-Italian banker Julio Herrera Velutini, whose daughter donated $3.5 million to the MAGA Inc. super PAC.

A central focus of the wave was Adriana Isabel Camberos and her brother, Andres Enrique Camberos. The siblings were convicted in San Diego on eight fraud counts for diverting discounted goods intended for Mexico into the U.S. market. This marked the second time Trump granted clemency to Adriana, who had received a commutation in 2021 for a counterfeit energy drink scheme; prosecutors noted she committed the second fraud just 42 days after her first release. The latest pardon released her from federal prison and halted the forfeiture of luxury assets.

White House officials characterized some of the prosecutions as politically motivated or the sentences as excessive, though official documents provided no specific reasoning. These actions coincide with the administration's firing of the Justice Department's pardon attorney, leading critics to claim the president is eroding public integrity guardrails to reward personal associates.
