INDIA Bloc Plans Delhi Meeting Over Election Commission Conduct
Mamata Banerjee announced an INDIA bloc meeting for September 30 in Delhi to coordinate opposition protests against the Election Commission of India.
The INDIA bloc plans to meet at the Constitution Club in Delhi on September 30, 2026, to coordinate a unified opposition response to the Election Commission of India. Mamata Banerjee, leader of the All India Trinamool Congress, announced the gathering after urging Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to convene the member parties.
The discussions will center on the functioning of the Election Commission and the conduct of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Specifically, the bloc intends to address protests regarding the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
Banerjee has also coordinated with CPI(M) general secretary M.A. Baby to determine the opposition's next steps. These efforts come amid ongoing nationwide protests demanding the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner.
