Norway Pledges 85 Billion Kroner Aid to Ukraine for 2027
Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre announced 85 billion kroner in military and civilian aid for Ukraine's 2027 fiscal year during a visit to Kyiv.
Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre announced that Norway will provide 85 billion kroner, approximately $9.1 billion to $9.2 billion, in aid to Ukraine for the 2027 fiscal year. Speaking during a visit to Kyiv on Sunday, Støre stated that the funding maintains a steady level of support established in 2025 as part of a long-term commitment extending through 2030.
The aid package is intended to address escalating Russian missile and drone attacks on critical infrastructure. While the exact breakdown of the funds is pending public release, some reports indicate 70 billion kroner is designated for military support and 15 billion kroner for civilian assistance. Støre characterized the funding as an investment in Europe's own security.
The announcement occurred as Nordic and Baltic leaders gathered in Kyiv to mark Ukrainian Independence Day and National Flag Day. The commitment comes amid warnings from Russian President Vladimir Putin, who claimed that Kyiv had opened a "Pandora's box" by striking Russian economic targets and warned that Moscow would target Ukraine's most sensitive economic sectors.
