John Cornyn Excludes Ken Paxton From Republican Fund-raiser

Senator John Cornyn and former President George W. Bush headlined a fund-raiser in Dallas on Monday to support six Republican Senate candidates in battleground states. The event benefited Maintain the Majority, a joint fund-raising committee supporting nominees in Maine, Ohio, Alaska, Iowa, Michigan, and New Hampshire.

Organizers excluded Ken Paxton, the Republican Senate nominee in Texas, who defeated Cornyn in a contentious primary. The omission highlights a divide between establishment Republicans and the party's insurgent wing. Cornyn and establishment donors spent over 130 million dollars opposing Paxton during the primary.

Despite the lack of support from the Dallas event, super PACs linked to Donald Trump have provided Paxton with more than 80 million dollars in advertising support for his general election campaign against Democrat James Talarico.
