USPS Whistleblower Alleges Secret Implementation of Trump Voting Order

A federal whistleblower has alleged that the United States Postal Service is secretly and hastily implementing an executive order from President Donald Trump to exert federal control over mail voting. The report, published by Senator Richard Blumenthal, warns that the agency is flouting court rulings to deploy an untested digital portal that requires state officials to submit voter data and unique barcodes for federal verification.

The whistleblower describes the system as risky and haphazard, noting that an unforgiving verification process could reject entire batches of thousands of ballots if a single barcode fails to scan. This technical vulnerability could lead to a catastrophic failure, potentially preventing millions of voters from receiving ballots for the upcoming midterm elections.

Legal challenges to the plan have created a conflicting judicial landscape. While the Supreme Court of the United States recently lifted a lower court's block on the directive, Judge Indira Talwani of a Massachusetts Federal District Court blocked the plan, ruling that the agency overstepped its legal mandate. The United States Department of Justice continues to appeal the temporary block on the final rule's enforcement.
