USCIS Director Announces Anti-American View Screening and Armed Agents

Director of U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Joseph Edlow announced a series of policy shifts aimed at tightening immigration enforcement and screening. The agency will now scrutinize applicants for anti-American views when granting green cards or other benefits, a move Edlow defended as a tool to target support for terrorist activity and hateful speech rather than protected political criticism of the government.

To combat large-scale immigration and marriage fraud, Edlow stated that USCIS will hire a small section of armed law enforcement agents. He further detailed plans to revert to a more rigorous 2020 version of the citizenship test and proposed placing parameters on post-graduate work authorizations for international students to prevent the displacement of U.S. workers.

Additionally, USCIS is partnering with the Social Security Administration and state secretaries to utilize the Systemic Alien Verification for Entitlements program. This collaboration is intended to verify voter rolls and counter voter fraud as part of a broader immigration agenda.
