Donald Trump Rallies Iowa Voters Ahead of Midterm Elections

President Donald Trump held a rally in Sioux City and scheduled a second visit to Dubuque to mobilize Republican voters before the November 3 midterms.

President Donald Trump held a Republican Party rally on October 23 at the Sioux Gateway Airport in Sioux City, Iowa, where he spoke for over 90 minutes to approximately 2,000 supporters. Trump urged voters to support Republican candidates for the governor's office, a U.S. Senate seat, and four U.S. House districts to avoid what he described as a "glum stretch" for the country. He emphasized that he has two years remaining in office and implored Iowans to vote to stave off "darkness."

The event occurred as Trump faces weakening poll numbers in the state. While some attendees praised his foreign policy and border security, others expressed anxiety over agricultural tariffs and rising diesel prices linked to the war in Iran. A small group of protesters also gathered near the airport parking area to criticize the president's policies.

Trump is scheduled to return to Iowa on November 1 for another rally in Dubuque, two days before the November 3 midterm elections. This second visit targets eastern Iowa, a region that has historically shifted from Democratic to Republican support. Jeff Kaufmann, Chair of the Republican Party of Iowa, stated that Trump is the most effective person in the country to drive turnout among the party's base.
