Trump Advisers Donate Balkan Consulting Fees to Library Fund
Political operatives James Blair and Chris LaCivita donated fees from advising the government of Republika Srpska to Donald Trump's presidential library fund.
Political operatives James Blair and Chris LaCivita donated hundreds of thousands of dollars in consulting fees to the presidential library fund of Donald Trump. The funds were earned from providing election advice to the pro-Russian government of Republika Srpska, with payments processed through the law firm Boies Schiller Flexner.
The donations followed public criticism from Trump after reports surfaced that the pair had traveled to the Balkan region earlier this month. Trump initially threatened to terminate the men if a conflict of interest existed, but he later told reporters he did not request the money and described the gesture as a "very nice thing to do."
Trump stated he is not investigating whether the engagement with the Balkan government was appropriate. The contributions come as Trump and his allies work toward a $1 billion fundraising goal for his presidential library.
