Kamala Harris Urges Democrats to Avoid Impeaching Donald Trump

Kamala Harris advised Democrats against pursuing the impeachment of Donald Trump, arguing that limited resources should instead be focused on investigations and accountability.

Former Vice President Kamala Harris urged congressional Democrats to avoid pursuing the impeachment of President Donald Trump if the party regains control of the House of Representatives in the upcoming midterm elections. In interviews with MeidasTouch and The Parnas Perspective podcast, Harris argued that impeachment is not a viable strategy because the necessary votes do not exist in the Senate and the party has limited resources.

Harris advocated for a shift in focus toward accountability and investigations, stating that Democratic leaders should adopt a ruthless orientation toward getting policy work done. This position was supported by Representatives Pete Aguilar and Henry Cuellar, with Cuellar noting that a third impeachment attempt would not work. Conversely, President Trump asserted that Democrats will attempt to impeach him again if they win back the House.

While Harris cautioned against targeting the president, other Democratic leaders focused on administration officials. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries called for War Secretary Pete Hegseth to be fired or pushed aside. Hegseth is the subject of an impeachment resolution introduced by Representative Thomas Massie alleging unlawful military actions. The Department of War defended Hegseth, describing him as a transformative leader who has reduced bureaucracy and improved recruitment.
