APC Leaders Accuse Nyesom Wike of Prioritizing Politics Over Governance

All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders have criticized Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, for prioritizing political confrontations over the governance of Abuja. Yakubu Sani, an APC chieftain and founder of the Arewa Mandate Alliance, urged Wike to stop using the commissioning of roads and bridges as platforms to denigrate APC governors, specifically Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State.

Sani argued that while infrastructure has improved, the FCT administration is neglecting essential municipal services such as waste management and water supply. He further demanded that Wike focus on the welfare of civil servants, teachers, and healthcare workers rather than pursuing personal political ambitions. Sani suggested that Wike emulate Governor Uzodimma's measured approach to public engagement.

Adding to the tension, Imo State APC Chairman Austin Onyedebelu labeled Wike a threat to Nigerian democracy, claiming he cannot maintain membership in both the Peoples Democratic Party and the APC. Onyedebelu accused Wike of using his Rainbow Coalition to revive the PDP for his own presidential goals and demanded he formally join the APC if he intends to support President Bola Tinubu's 2027 re-election.

Former Imo State Deputy Governor Eze Madumere defended Wike, describing him as an exceptional politician. Madumere asserted that the Rainbow Coalition is a legitimate democratic tool to secure a second term for President Tinubu and suggested that critics from the Progressives Governors Forum are motivated by envy.
