Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister of State for Textiles Pabitra Margherita opened Bharat Tex 2026 at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Running from July 14 to 17, the third edition of the global trade fair serves as a marketplace for domestic manufacturers, international exhibitors, and global buyers, aligning with the nation's Vision 2030 roadmap for the textile sector.
Organized by the Bharat Tex Trade Federation with support from the Ministry of Textiles, the event features over 1,600 exhibitors and 7,000 global buyers across 1.6 million square feet. The exhibition showcases 20,000 products across the entire value chain, from fiber and yarn to technical textiles. To facilitate trade, the event includes 4,000 curated B2B meetings and the signing of over 30 Memorandums of Understanding on trade and technology.
High-level participation includes Union Minister for Textiles Giriraj Singh and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, who is utilizing a dedicated state pavilion to attract investments in organic cotton and footwear. The fair also draws representatives from over 20 countries, the United Nations, and the European Union. The textile sector currently contributes 2.3 percent to India's GDP and 8.6 percent to its exports, making it the country's second-largest employer after agriculture.
