Chris Emejuru Criticizes Tinubu's Economic Reforms Over Rising Poverty

Action Democratic Party chieftain and entrepreneur Chris Emejuru criticized the economic reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, asserting that the policies have worsened living conditions for many Nigerians. In a statement titled "Nigeria at a Crossroads," Emejuru argued that the removal of fuel subsidies and the liberalization of the foreign exchange market lacked necessary social safety nets despite their positive intentions.

Emejuru noted that rising petrol prices have inflated the costs of food, rent, and transportation, which has pushed millions more people into poverty. He called for the implementation of a managed float exchange rate system to provide greater stability than current market forces.

To address the economic crisis, Emejuru advocated for increased investment in the digital economy. He also urged the government to better harmonize tax reforms to ensure small and medium-sized enterprises receive tangible benefits.
