UK and Oman Coordinate Regional Security and Growth

The British Prime Minister Andy Burnham held a telephone call with Haitham bin Tariq Al Said, the Sultan of Oman, on July 30, 2026, to coordinate on economic development and Middle East stability. The leaders discussed the Al Batinah North Growth Hub in Oman, an initiative modeled after the Manchester Growth Hub.
Addressing regional security, the leaders focused on threats posed by Iran and the urgent requirement to restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. Burnham announced that the United Kingdom is coordinating with France to prepare a Multinational Military Mission. This mission is intended for deployment following a ceasefire to ensure continued stability in the region.
