Pro-Tinubu Campaign Launches Amid Predictions of 2027 Defeat
The Hope Alive Initiative launched a grassroots campaign for President Bola Tinubu's re-election as opposition leaders predict his defeat in a credible 2027 vote.
The Hope Alive Initiative launched a multi-platform grassroots campaign in Abuja on August 19, 2026, to mobilize support for President Bola Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid. The effort employs human mascots, a city-wide SMS program, and a Pidgin-language radio show to promote administration reforms in education, foreign exchange, and the petroleum sector. Ernest Omoarelojie, the group's Director of Press and Communications, stated that these bold reforms are necessary for long-term development despite short-term challenges.
Simultaneously, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party, predicted that President Tinubu would lose a credible 2027 election before 4 p.m. on election day. Speaking on Channels Television, Baba-Ahmed characterized the ruling All Progressives Congress as a "monster eating itself up" and cited the party's defeat in the Osun State governorship election as evidence of its vulnerability.
Baba-Ahmed argued that the President remains politically uneasy despite controlling approximately 75 percent of the National Assembly and having the support of 31 governors. He warned that if the election is not free and fair, it would pose a "very serious threat to Nigeria’s democracy" due to widespread public anger.
